A post Valentine's post

Wine rec: Merryvale "Profile", Napa Valley 2000. (If you can find one. LOL) We received it as a gift from hubby's boss. You might try the 2001 or 2002 as well, I believe those were also very good years for California Reds. It was very yummy with chocolate and steak. (Yes in that order, hee.) I baked a chocolate cake, because you know the way to a man's *ahem* heart is his tummy.

The Catholic Church is once again pissing me off. The Vatican has "requested" that Catholic Charities stop helping place children for adoption with same sex couples.

The recommendation was from Archbishop Gabriel Montalvo Higuera, the papal nuncio in Washington, the Boston Herald reported. As he has does not have direct authority over Boston's Archbishop Sean O'Malley, the letter did not constitute an order, sources told the newspaper. But it carries weight as a message from the Holy See.

"You can't defend Catholic teaching in society unless you follow it yourself," Doyle said. "No religious agency should be forced to act against its principles in the name of charity."

The problem is, Catholic Charities is bound by the state's anti-discrimination laws. Archbishop O'Malley (don't even get me started on him) has asked the state for a "conscience clause". Well you know what? If Catholic Charities is enjoying state money, then IMHO (and it is my blog so of course I am here to spout my opinion) they are obligated to assist, and not discriminate against anyone in the state who asks them for help. If you don't want provide a loving home to these often troubled and difficult to place children with a gay or lesbian couple, then don't accept state funds. No brainer. Oh, but you guys are broke, so that might be a problem.

I'm having cake for breakfast.

On a happier note, Massachusetts State Board of Pharmacy has unanimously ordered Walmart to carry Plan B, or "morning after pill." The article also says that the company might be considering stock the pill in stores nationwide. I *heart* my board of pharmacy. I love my liberal state of MA. (Unless of course they audit me. LOL)

Must fly, Wednesdays suck. I'm getting my nails done though. :)

I love commenting on the wrong post, so here goes:

a. I agree with Jobee's last comment on your last post. Germs are not so bad--they build up our immunities. :)

b. I'm glad you liked it, and I hate when all the weirdos slime up the joint. "friends" are welcome to be as sleazy as they see fit, however.

c. (back to this post) Cake for breakfast is such a beautiful thing.

d. Catholic church = Mormon church, in stupidity rankings. Grrr.

(my verify word is "adonais"....aw!)
