Nobody does it better

So there's a new Bond flick coming out next Friday. (And apparently our new Bond is packing a lot more than a gun) NPR had a great report on all the Bond theme songs this morning. I had actually heard the new one---"You Know My Name", last night on my way home from work. Whether or not it'll become a classic Bond song remains to be seen, but I can tell you on its own, it rocks. It's performed by Chris Cornell. You may not know his name, but you know his voice as the lead singer from Soundgarden and Audioslave. I thought it was great. Oddly enough, it won't be on the soundtrack. Which is actually cool, because iTunes doesn't let you buy single songs off soundtracks. You can check it out at YouTube.

Carly Simon's was the best. No one pens a song like Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager.

Man, I used to have a cassette tape of Bond themes. Live & Let Die was a favorite. View to a Kill. Thunderball. And although I agree with your assessment of Carly's Nobody Does it Better... my vote always goes to Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger. CLASSIC.

Wow, do you know in the NPR clip he says that Shirley Bassey said she always hated that song? LOL.

"No body does it better" was just on the radio! I must agree with Jamie, that one, and Live and Let Die are my fovorites. (Guns and Roses version is not too shabby!)

Pgh
