Ha! Gotcha! I'm giving free music advice though. :p
I realized I haven't plugged anything good lately; the music goddess has been delinquent. So without further ado, here's what's rocking my world these days:
Jack Johnson-Lullabyes and Sing-a-Longs, The Soundtrack to Curious George The Movie. Love, love, love the feature song Upside Down. Could be one of my favorite JJ songs. His kid is so lucky, can you imagine seeing your dad in a video with Curious George?
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. How have I never heard of these guys before? The single that turned me on to them is "Shuffle Your Feet". The CD is Howl. From what I read it's a bit of a departure for them; very diverse. I plan to get it.
Brandi Carlile. She just opened for Jamie Cullum last night. The song getting airplay here is "Throw it All Away." I love her voice!
Augustana-the single Boston. Very catchy.
Beth Orton. Every single that I hear off her new CD, Comfort of Strangers, blows me away. It's also next on my "to download" list.
And finally, Fiona Apple's new release, "Extraordinary Machine" Remember Fiona Apple? Loved her. Hasn't had a release since "Tidal" in 1996. Apparently she worked very hard on this album, and it somehow got leaked to the net because tracks from it were used in a PS2 game. Sony was pissed, she reworked it (I guess she wasn't happy with what was being said about it, I think) and then Sony shelved it because they didn't feel it had much commercial value. Fans went nuts, and Sony finally released it this past summer.
I can see why Sony felt that way, because it is a very unique compilation of songs, but the critics have done nothing but rave about it. I like what I've heard so far.
Have a great weekend everyone!

My fave from JJ is People Watching. It has such a city vibe. =D
When is Nellie McKay's cd coming out?!?!?! I have a feeling we will be waiting for a looooong time = ( Darn record labels!
Beth Orton is fantastic. I'm glad to see Fiona Apple has released something new.
P.S. Happy Baseball Season tomorrow!
Brandi Carslile "What can I Say?" is angsty and soulful and awesome.
As, by the way, am I. *wink*
I know little of what is popular now.
