Last night, after the rain---the torrential rain, dusk in my yard was magical.
The air was dense, and seemed to form a bridge from the glistening blades of grass right up to the dripping branches and leaves of the trees that surround my property. I felt a need to be still, so I was, and watched the bats circle and dive for their dinner.
It was not silent, though. Through the humid haze ware the lustful calls of tree frogs, louder than I can ever recall hearing. They were all different; some were higher pitched, some syncopated to differentiate themselves, as if to say "Pick me! pick me!" to a potential mate.
Unfortunately I needed to see to cook my burgers so I had to put the patio light on. :p It was nice to be serenaded while I worked though. They were good burgers too; they had chopped bell pepper inside, and I crumbled blue cheese on top then smothered them with sautéed onions and mushrooms. Served with grilled zucchini and charred red pepper. Yum.
The boy at the liquor store carded me, despite that I am probably old enough to be his mother. Almost! Bwah! That made my day, let me tell you.
Now, as the sun thaws the hearts of Bostonians everywhere, I sit in the bowels of the hospital, trying not to spend the entire shift eating. Happy weekend kids. Do drop a comment, and say hi, or chat with me or something. It's going to be a loooong weekend.

we're having a nice weekend here too, i think it's gonna stay below the triple digits the whole time! it's only 92 right now and usually it would be 100+. we just came back from playing at a nearby lake in the tonto nat'l forest where bryce got to sit in the dirt and throw rocks into the water. very nice. :)
and now he's been bathed and is already asleep for his nap. even nicer!
